Strecker Road Bridge Over Caulks Creek | Bridges and Structures | Wildwood, Missouri

Juneau was contracted by the City of Wildwood, Missouri, to replace an existing two span bridge 72 feet long by 20 feet wide.  Juneau’s tasks included topographic and property surveying, evaluating various bridge replacement options, and preparing the final construction documents and right-of-way plans.  Construction phase services included shop drawing reviews and answering contractor’s RFI’s.

The Strecker Road Bridge was 80% Federal funded and administered through East-West Gateway.  Plan review was provided by MoDOT.

The proposed option selected for this project was a horizontally curved three span structure, 210 feet long and 30 feet wide.  The roadway alignment was improved to provide for a 30 MPH design and the bridge structure was located on a horizontally curved section of this alignment.  The bridge superstructure consists of composite precast prestressed I-girders with a reinforced concrete deck and safety barriers.  The substructure consists of integral end bents and solid wall intermediate bents supported by steel piles.

The bridge’s superstructure is located such that it is above the 50 year design high water event plus a minimum of 1 foot of freeboard.  It is also above the 100 year design high water event and produces less than 1 foot of backwater over the natural or no bridge condition.  The proposed alignment was chosen to keep the roadway and bridge improvements within Wildwood’s existing right-of-way.
