Geyer Road Bridge Over Two-Mile Creek Repairs |
Bridges and Structures | Frontenac, Missouri
Juneau Associates was contracted by the City of Frontenac, Missouri, to provide a bridge evaluation, load rating analysis, recommended repairs, and provide final construction documents for the Geyer Road Bridge, a single-span steel beam structure supported by vertical wall abutments, approximately 49 feet long. The goal of the project was to extend its overall life, add a mix use trail, and provide architectural enhancements to the overall structure.
Recommendations for the bridge structure included removing the existing steel beam superstructure and concrete deck and replacing with spaced 17 inch deep Precast Prestressed Concrete Deck Beams utilizing 8000 PSI concrete and 0.6” diameter strands, and a composite reinforced concrete deck. Kansas Coral Safety Barrier Curbs with an applied stain, were installed as an architectural feature. In addition, the existing abutments were repaired and widened, and the beam ends were made integral to eliminate bridge joints.
Juneau also provided engineering services through the bidding phase and construction observation phase of the project.
