Hamilton-Carr Greenway Path Underpass
Juneau was contracted by the City of Wildwood, Missouri, to prepare preliminary and final construction documents for a new bikeway – trail tunnel that would carry the Hamilton-Carr Greenway Path under Old State Road near the intersection of Highway 109. Juneau’s tasks included topographic and property surveying, evaluating various tunnel options, and preparing the final construction documents. Construction phase services will include shop drawing reviews and answering contractor’s RFI’s.
The Hamilton-Carr Tunnel is funded by the City of Wildwood. Plan reviews were performed by both MoDOT and St. Louis County.
The proposed option chosen included a precast concrete box tunnel that provided an opening 8-feet tall by 10-feet wide with cast-in-place concrete end sections and horizontally curved segmental retaining wing walls. The total structure length is 113 feet. The tunnel was designed to support both the HS25 live load and the St. Louis County T45 vehicle.
