Juneau Associates, Inc., P.C. was contracted in 2014 by Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville to provide structural engineering services for the construction of a new 5,400 square foot building addition to the existing student fitness center complex. The new free weight room addition is a single story structure designed with a low slope roof, made up of a metal deck supported by open web steel joists. The roof joists are supported by a perimeter steel moment frame made up of wide flange steel beams and hollow structural section columns. The majority of the structural frame is exposed to view from the interior of the building.
