Charles and Mary Lukas Athletic Annex at SIUE (Vadalabene Extension) | Education | Edwardsville, Illinois
Juneau was tapped by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) to provide structural engineering, site development and land surveying services for the development of the Charles and Mary Lukas Athletic Annex on campus. This $5.4 million facility, which is connected to the Vadalabene Center, included the addition of 29,100 square feet of space for Intercollegiate Athletics to help accommodate SIUE’s growth into a NCAA Division I school.
Because it was an addition to an existing facility, the project came with some challenging foundation work. The three-level Annex will provide programming and office space for the athletics departments with space on the top level for teaching, research and computer laboratory needs for the Department of Kinesiology, office space for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics on the ground floor and strength and condition area on the bottom floor.
