Alton Regional Multimodal Transportation Facility (TIGER Grant Application) | Alton, Illinois

In July of 2011, Juneau was selected to provide civil engineering and land surveying services for the preparation of a joint application with the City of Alton and the Madison County Transit District for TIGER III grant funding to create a Multimodal Transportation Facility in conjunction with the Amtrak High-Speed Rail station planned for the city of Alton.

The project involved working with representatives of the sponsors and other regional stake holders to develop conceptual plans for a $13.85 million facility to be located in the city’s planned 58-acre Robert Wadlow Town Centre. Due to the diligent efforts of many involved with the project, the joint application was selected as one of 46 grants awarded to about 600 applicants nationally.

Juneau continues to provide services to the developing project which will provide for a new transportation hub adjacent to the station, linking rail service to the regional transit system, bike trails and pedestrian facilities. Among the station amenities will be an indoor customer waiting area with a service desk, restrooms and electronic arrival and departure information signs. Site features will include ten bus bays with canopies, bicycle storage lockers, 500+ space  parking lot and access roadways.
